GardenChirps is written by Vanessa Gardner Nagel, APLD, a gutsy garden designer, enthusiastic garden writer, passionate garden design speaker, and frenetic gardener. She is a new Timber Press author with a book to be released in Fall 2010. Understanding Garden Design: A Complete Handbook for Aspiring Designers is a start-to-finish guide for homeowners, garden design students, garden designers, and landscape contractors who provide design services.

Vanessa has 30 years design experience, beginning as an interior designer, working on local, national, & international projects, and then changing to landscape design. She is a certified professional member of APLD (Association of Professional Landscape Designers) and was the 2009 president of the Oregon Chapter. She serves her community as a member of the Design Review Committee for her city.
